Bochner: The invasion of language into the visual field led to a whole series of other, often unacknowledged, questions, such as, who is the assumed speaker? Or who is the assumed audience? We know that all abuses of power begin with the abuse of language. The issue I was trying to get at in writing “Excerpts From Speculation,” and that I’m still trying to get at in my recent “Thesaurus” paintings, is what ideologies are hidden in everyday language?

예전에 멜 보크너 전시를 어딘가에서 본 것 같은데, 어디서 봤는지 잘 생각이 나지 않는다. 그리고 멜 보크너에 대해 예전에 뭔가를 적어놓았던것 같은데, 어디에 무엇을 적어놓았는지...

아까 책을 보다 멜 보크너가 나와서 찾아보았다.
위의 인터뷰는 내용은 잘 모르겠지만, '유의어 그림'을 계속 만든다는 아이디어 자체가 재미있다.
하지만 개념미술이지만, 보는사람이 받아들일때의 '감각'을 중시한다는 면이 어떤 차별점이 되는이 흥미롭고, 작업생성을 위한 명확한 시스템을 가지고 작업하는 사람.
인터뷰 내용에서 재미있었던건, 대학교때 실기수업이 바우하우스적이고 이성적인 수업같은것과 (뭔가 육감적인?)드로잉수업 같은것이 뒤섞여있었기 때문에 그 둘 사이의 균형이 애매했다는 느낌과, 그런 갈등에서 영향을 받고 항상 그 사이에서 위치를 찾으려 한다는 이야기. 아버지가 간판을 그리는 사람이었다고 하는데 후기 작업이 문자를 그리는 작업들이 많다는게 재미있다.
